Creating A Powerful Meditation Space For Enhancing The 6 Senses

Meditation: wonderful, calming and sometimes a bit tricky to practice! Quieting the mind and tuning into your body isn’t as easy as some might think. Creating a space for you to practice can be beneficial, especially when you enhance the 6 senses: sound, smell, mind, sight, touch and taste. This grounds you in the present moment allowing you to become more aware of your mind and body.

With a few simple things you likely already own, you can fully submerse yourself in the experience to engage your senses. A meditation space of your own might even empower you to practice a little each day, and make it a valued part of your daily routine.

  1. Sound – Tibetan Singing Bowl: Vibrational energy flows all around us. The right frequencies can promote deep meditative states. That being said, one amazing tool is a Tibetan Singing Bowl. You can feel the calm, clear tone of the vibrations as the sound resonates throughout your mind and body. Check out this lovely version that fits easily in your hand.

2. Smell – Essential Oil Diffuser:  Enhance your sense of smell with candles or essential oils. You can enjoy a soothing oil geared for meditation like Lavender, Frankincense or Sandalwood. This set has a lot of useful oils and perfect for anyone beginning to dabble in them. This is an awesome diffuser. (I’ve had it for over 2 years and it’s still running great!)

3. Mind – Letter Board Quotes: Felt letter boards are so stylish, chic and versatile (I LOVE them). You can write anything you want that truly speaks to you. And you can’t go wrong with a moving and thought provoking quote that inspires you. They’re so much more than just letters on felt.

4. Sight – Plants: Everyone needs some green in their lives. And by green, I mean plants! To be connected with nature is grounding and instills a sense of calm. Bringing a plant into your space can help balance and activate your root chakra and allow you feel closer to nature, even during the winter months.

5. Touch – Healing Crystals: These stones are beautiful and said to embody healing energies. Tumbled stones are perfect for meditating to manifest your desires and intentions. You can hold the crystal in your left hand, the receiving hand, or place them on your body at any Chakra that needs attention.

6. Taste – Tea: A delightful cup of tea can do wonders for you. With so many options you can find one you love that suites your needs. You can drink hot tea (I love honey in mine) or prepare it cold, depending on the season. Chamomile is a great, calming tea for meditation or before bed. Buddha Teas has an awesome line of Chakra Teas worth checking out!

My husband and I travel the US full time in a 35 foot 5th wheel; space is tight! Creating this nook or myself allowed me to have a safe place to withdraw from the surrounding world. I hope you’ve been inspired to create a space that allows you to be, discover & love yourself!
